Planned Trips for 2005/2006
Brahim and I have planned the following
trips for 2006, one of them being to celebrate 5 years of arranging
walking/trekking holidays in Morocco together.
These trips give the opportunity to explore the real Morocco – generally
on foot and sleeping in local accommodation, rather than seeing it from a
high speed air-conditioned bus or luxury hotels. We have our own guides
and cooks that travel with us – they have been looking after our guests
for the last 5 years so fully understand what food (it will be local
dishes) our travellers enjoy. Luggage will be carried by mules or camels.
The times stated in the trip length include the time taken to get to and
from Marrakech to the start and finish points. At the end of each trip
there will be plenty of time to practise your bargaining skills in the
souks for your presents and souvenirs
January 2006 – Desert, Oasis and other
scenes full of natural beauty
Fully booked
February/March 2006 – Special
Anniversary Trip
The first 4 days will be a walk/trek from Telouet to Ait Benhaddou, where
we will visit both of the famous kasbahs (fortified villages) and have
time to soak up the atmosphere. Then we continue for a further 6 days
trekking in the volcanic mountains of Siroua where spring will have
arrived. This means a variety of green valleys, typical rocky mountains,
flowering almond trees and little Berber villages. At the end of the trip
we will be able to spend a couple of days exploring the delights of
Marrakech before making our way home.
Total length 15 days. Departure 25th February.
April/May 2006- Tour of 4 valleys
10 days of trekking in the most beautiful gorges and valleys of Morocco,
around the MGoun Moutain (2nd highest mountain in Morocco), the Todhra and
Dades gorges and the Rose Valley. Finishing with two days exploring the
delights and history of Marrakech.
Total length 15 days. Departure mid April.
November 2006 – Desert and Oasis
5 days of walking in a desert landscape which is still generally
unexplored, and/or 5 days in and around the Ziz Valley (this will depend
on the wishes of those people joining the trip). The Ziz valley is the
largest date palm tree oasis of Morocco. We will be there for the harvest
time. Most people are only aware of the dates that are eaten at Christmas,
however there are many different varieties and colours of dates that are
not normally seen on the UK market. Depending on the chosen destination we
will then visit Merzouga, the highest sand dunes, the famous Dades and
Todhra gorges and finish with a visit to Marrakech.
Total stay 10 to 21 days. Departure beginning of November.
